Move over Sinead O’Connor, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift are still having a feud. Now a U.S. tabloid is claiming that the catfight started over dating boys, including Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Justin Gaston.
While many news outlets and tabloids chose to focus on Miley’s current feud with Sinead O’Connor, OK! Magazine dedicated a cover story to her beef with Taylor Swift. They chose to focus on the most recent slight, when Miley commented on Tay-Tay’s outfit, saying:
“You’re not supposed to show up in a gown, Vanna White-style. It’s supposed to be fun.”
Of course, it is unclear if Miley was directing the comments towards Taylor, though she was wearing a dress that fit that description. This wouldn’t be the first time the two had problems. According to a source, they began fighting back in 2008:
“Miley and Taylor used to be really close, but they fell out over boys way back in 2008. There were a lot of complications that began when Miley was dumped by Nick Jonas and Taylor took up with Nick’s brother Joe Jonas.”
The source went on to describe how devastated Miley was:
“Miley started getting a bit edgy and cocky, and Taylor ran away, taking the Jonas brothers with her! It was as if Miley lost her girlfriend, boyfriend and a friend in a matter of months--it was pretty rough on her.”
Another insider commented about how the two interacted at the VMAs. During Miley’s performance, Tay-Tay was seen laughing hysterically. According to the source:
“It’s only natural for them to be rivals, but Taylor’s always looked down her nose at Miley, even when they were friends. Taylor’s also far more successful, so Miley’s always felt like the awkward little sister when she was around. Now Miley’s getting a lot more attention, she’s more confident.”
