Saturday Night Live (SNL) came alive this past Saturday with Adele's passionate voice. During her appearance as a musical guest, she sang "Hello" and "When we Were Young," two moving songs from her new hit album 25. The singer was joined by co-host Matthew McConaughey, star of 90's movie Dazed and Confused.
While Adele's talented mini-concert may have brought many of her fans to tears, "The British songstress' epic ballad had some hilarious side effects as well, serving as the saving grace for one family's terrible Thanksgiving in an SNL short," reports US Weekly.
The skit, entitled, "A Thanksgiving Miracle," depicts a fairly typical-looking family gathered around the holiday table, preparing to gorge themselves on turkey, giblets and other festive treats. Also, typical of the scene is the bickering that soon ensues at practically every family get together.
To the horror of one of the noshes, someone blurts out, "I'm thankful that our governor is not going to let those refugees in here," which inevitably deteriorates into a gobble squabble. In a brilliantly perceptive move, one young girl gets the bright idea to pacify her family by playing, "Hello," on the radio.
What follows is a rather unsettling scene in which the family members lip-sync the words of the song, perhaps a little too fervently. It wasn't the singing that was disturbing, so much as the transformations the crooners underwent. Throughout the progression of the skit, the SNL cast members gradually take on some of Adele's physical characteristics.
It starts out simply enough with mannerisms, like the way Adele touches her face while she sings. Before long, the people surrounding the table have long red nails, blonde Adele-like hair and long flowing eyelashes. They eventually go so far as to take over her music video.

According to Huffington Post, "This appearance marks Adele's second on SNL, and her first live American TV performance since the 2013 Oscars, where she sang "Skyfall." It also came just one day after the release of 25, which sold 900,000 copies on iTunes on its first day."
