The 2014 Sony Interview email hack has had a lasting impact on Idris Elba (Luther, Thor 3, Pacific Rim). That is because leaked emails from Sony executives have forever linked him to James Bond after he was suggested to take up the moniker of Agent 007. When the rumors first started Idris had a little fun with it. Even tweeting that he didn’t think he was handsome enough for the part of the suave superspy:
“Isn't 007 supposed to handsome? Glad you think I've got a shot! Happy New year people.”
However, the Bond questions are starting to wear on the Wire actor. During a recent interview with The Telegraph, Idris explained just why he doesn’t like talking about Bond anymore:
“Because it feels like I’m campaigning, and I’m not. At first it was harmless – oh, I know, wouldn’t it be great? –- and now it’s started off racial debates. I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role. Enough is enough. I can’t talk about it any more.”
