First Images of Benedict Cumberbatch as Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' are Magically Delicious

Rejoice! We are finally getting the first look at Benedict Cumberbatch as the mystical Steven Strange in Marvel's upcoming film Doctor Strange. The images look great, and give us a little taste of what is to come. They are brilliant, and vibrant, and just like the comics. Brace yourself.

The cover of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has given us our first look at the Sorcerer Supreme! The issue has given us our first look at Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange in Marvel's upcoming movie Doctor Strange. This will be the first film to deal directly with magic, something that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has skirted around. The only established character we have so far that can use magic is the Scarlet Witch, and Marvel really hasn't openly said that she is a magic user.

Strange looks great, check out the cover image below:

Cumberbatch stated that he has only begn to embrace the character of Stephen Strange, "I'm still in the infancy of learning all that. It was like, okay, I've got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I'm thinking, there's going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I'm still working on that. We haven't played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It's like anything, you just have to experiment." He goes on to talk about Strange, saying that he is quite artistic, "There's all sorts of craziness [in Doctor Strange]. Falling, flying, jumping, fighting, punching, getting punched. It's really rough and tumble. These gestures are ways of creating the magic. It's a beautiful thing, it's balletic, it's very dynamic. And once the boys in the backroom get to work on it, there's going to be crazy s-t going on."

You can check out the images that were inside of EW below. There are some great shots of the good Doctor showing off the way that his magic will appear on the big screen. Next November, Marvel will go Strange!

Scott Derrickson is directing the film, and stars Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen. Doctor Strange hits theaters in November 2016.
