During Donald Trump's campaign rally in Rock Hill, SC Friday night, a Muslim woman was kicked out of the venue for silently protesting Trump's hateful rhetoric. When police were escorting the lady out, Trump supporters turned hostile.
This is just another in a long line of incidents demonstrating the vitriolic stance the Donald Trump campaign has taken regarding anyone who opposes them. Whether it's approving the beating of a Black Lives Matter protester or calling for a ban on Muslims coming to the US, it's clear that Trump is not on the side of free speech.
According to CNN, "Major Steven Thompson of the Rock Hill Police Department told CNN Hamid was kicked out of the event because the campaign told him beforehand that 'anybody who made any kind of disturbance' should be escorted out."
Perhaps Trump should take a lesson from Bernie Sanders, whose allowed protesters to actually say their piece at his rallies. It's hard not to respect someone who does not simply throw out those who are a potential problem. Especially when you consider that "Unlike other Trump protesters - which have become a fixture at his packed campaign events - Hamid did not yell or disrupt Trump's speech."
Hamid Rose, the Muslim woman escorted from the rally, blames Trump's rhetoric and not people for the antagonism she received, noting that it wasn't until the group as a whole turned on her that things got ugly. Her purpose in going was that she believes most Trump supporters have not actually met a Muslim.
One can only hope that America wakes up and realizes that Trump is not going to make America great again, he'll send it back down a path of bigotry and hatred that we are still not completely off.
