Guess which famous actors and actresses have never won a statue at Oscar time? The list of people who have never won a little golden naked guy for their mantle has a lot of very well-known names that may suprise you. Some names like perenial nominee Julianne Moore were on this list for a long time, but she won her statue for Best Actress last year for the film Still Alice. Some, like Leonardo DiCaprio, are still on the list, though he has been nominated and a favorite to win a Best Actor statue.
According to Fox News Magazine, Johnny Depp has never won an Academy Award. He has been nominated 3 times in the Best Actor category. In 2004, he was nominated for Pirates of The Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl; in 2005, the nomination came for Neverland; and then in 2008, a nod came for Sweeney Todd, but all three times the actor came up empty.
Another actor who has come up empy in his brushes with the Academy is Tom Cruise who, like Johnny Depp, has been nominated 3 times, He was first nominated for Born on the Fourth of July in 1990. In 1997, came a nomination for the very popular Jerry Maguire. Both of these were for Best Actor. In 2000, came an unsucessful nod for Magnolia.
On the female side, it is very noteable that Amy Adams, despite being in so many high-profile films in which her acting was praised, has yet to win an Oscar. She is in danger of taking Julianne Moore's place of often nominated but never awarded. To date, Amy Adams has received 4 Best Supporting Actress nominations and one Best Actress nomination for American Hustle in 2014.
Recently, it was noted by the Telegraph that because of the huge success of Star Wars :The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford had regained the title of highest grossing actor of all time. However, Harrison Ford has never won any sort of Oscar. The actor has only ever been nominated once, in 1985 for Witness.
The Academy Awards don't seem to like popular actors so many don't have the awards their career has deserved. The Academy also doesn't like actors of color. So it doesn't look like Will Smith should waste his time attending.
