‘Lazarus’ David Bowie Honored At 2016 Grammys By ‘AHS: Hotel’s’ Lady Gaga [PERFORMANCE]

Music lovers all around the world shed a tear or 200 when it was revealed that David Bowie (Lazarus) had passed away from cancer. There is no way that the Grammy Awards could go on without a tribute to legend. Now they have announced who they chose to honor Bowie. Grammy winning musician and Golden Globe winning actress (AHS: Hotel) , Lady Gaga will perform a special tribute to Bowie at this year's ceremonies.

Grammy Award Producer Ken Ehrlich discussed how it all came together so quickly after Bowie's passing, in a statement to reporter (Via Entertainment Weekly):

“We had already booked Lady Gaga on this year’s show, but when David passed -- almost in a single moment -- we knew we had to change direction. We immediately spoke and agreed that she should be the one to honor David. She’s perfect for it. So I reached out to Nile and, before long, we were on our way to creating what we believe will not only make a great Grammy Moment, but one befitting of David.”

Gaga herself has long been a fan of Bowie and he clearly had an impact on her style. Shortly before Bowie died Gaga spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about of love of the Star man (via Billboard):

"When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamor was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls. He is a true, true artist and I don't know if I ever went, 'Oh, I'm going to be that way like this,' or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that's what drew me to him."

The Grammy Awards are live, Monday, February 15, at 8:00 p.m. eastern on CBS.
