The main cast for Fox’s The Passion is almost complete. Grammy Award winning singer, Seal, is joining the upcoming live Palm Sunday production of the musical retelling of the story of Christ. Seal will be playing Pontius Pilate.
The cast list for The Passion includes:
Jencarlos Canela as Jesus Christ.
Chris Daughtry as Judas Iscariot.
Prince Royce as Peter.
Trisha Yearwood as Mother Mary
Seal as Pontius Pilate
With Tyler Perry serving as host and narrator.
David Madden,Fox Entertainment President announced Tyler Perry’s involvement, in a statement to the press(via Deadline):
“The Passion is both wonderfully entertaining and genuinely inspirational. Tyler Perry is the perfect host to lead the cast –- and viewers –- through the streets of New Orleans in this contemporary re-telling of a timeless story.
The Passion is written by Peter Barsocchini (Disney’s High School Musical), with Adam Anders (Rock of Ages, Glee) serving as music producer.
The Passion airs on Palm Sunday, March 30 at 8:00 PM eastern with a tape delay for the west coast.

“Set in modern day, The Passion will follow the dramatic and inspirational story of Jesus of Nazareth, as he presides over the Last Supper, and then is betrayed by Judas, put on trial by Pontius Pilate, convicted, crucified and resurrected. The story will unfold live at some of New Orleans’ most iconic locations, while featuring a procession of hundreds of people carrying a 20-foot, illuminated cross from Champion Square outside the Superdome to the live stage at Woldenburg Park on the banks of the Mississippi River.”
