‘A Christmas Story the Musical’ Heads to Broadway

A musical version of the classic film "A Christmas Story" is headed to Broadway.

Producers announced Thursday that "Christmas Story, The Musical!" will play at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in Manhattan from Nov. 5 to Dec. 30.

The musical is based on the 1983 comedy film which follows the story of 9-year-old Ralphie, who wishes to get a BB gun as a Christmas gift and endures all kinds of challenges on his quest.

Directed by John Rando and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, the musical will feature more than a dozen songs by lyricist Benj Pasek and composer Justin Paul, including "Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun" and "A Major Award."The show will mark Pasek and Paul's Broadway debut, after they made their New York debut this summer with "Dogfight".

Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie in the original film, is one of the producers of the show.

The casting for the boy to play Ralphie in the musical has not been announced.
