Ashley Benson Talks Being Told Size 2 is Too Fat for Hollywood

Ashley Benson loves to flaunt her enviable figure on social media, but who knew that she was being passed over for a role because she is just not skinny enough? The Pretty Little Liars star opened up about being told to "lose weight" and that a size 2 is "too fat" for Hollywood in Health Magazine's March issue.

The 26-year-old actress has a svelte body that she herself feels is too skinny, but according to some Hollywood casting directors, her body needs a lot more work. Benson revealed that in order to get the role, she had to be dangerously thin and although she would love to get the part, she is not interested in looking like a skelleton.

"I get told all the time to lose weight. I got that a month ago," she shared. "It's just weird. With my stuff recently, it's been, 'You have to be skin and bones or you're not getting it.' There was a point where it was getting to where a size 2 was great. I'm a size 2, but I think that a size 4 is healthy. I think that all of these sizes are healthy."

Despite the blatant sexism of the industry, Benson is continuing to work on keeping up her confidence in spite of the unrealistic and dangerous weight demands of Hollywood as she strives simply to be healthy.

“I usually do Pilates three days a week for an hour, and I try to box or do SoulCycle two or three times a week," she continued. "There are times I just want to do nothing! But then I don’t feel good about myself.”

Benson recently shared the same dilemma with Ocean Drive magazine, saying that she didn't get the part because she "too fat."

“I was just told I was too fat for a part,” she told the magazine. “I’m a size two!"
