'Titanfall 2' Rumors: New Multi-Platform Mech Combat Game from EA Set to Release Winter 2016?

Fans of the 'Titanfall' series have been waiting for a sequel to the hit mech game since it's original debut in March 2014, and rumors indicate that EA may be releasing 'Titanfall 2' some time during the winter of 2016 with a multi-platform launch.

Part of the basis for the rumor comes from the official announcement that "Todd McFarlane's toy company McFarlane Toys has partnered with Respawn Entertainment to make a line of action figures based on Titanfall 2," according to Polygon. The toys, seven inch high, meticulously detailed models, are expected to be released late in 2016, thus fueling speculation that a release for the Titanfall 2 game won't be far behind.

Respawn Entertainment and EA have been hinting at the sequel ever since the original release, and this time there may even be a single-player campaign, which would be rather nice considering the back-story to the original Titanfall was a bit tricky to figure out.

Screenrant theorizes that either Titanfall 2 or else Battlefield 5 will see a winter 2016 release, and the other will be released in March 2017.

EA released an official statement in response to the Polygon article, stating "MacFarlane Toys will be releasing toys inspired by Titanfall in Winter of 2016. We have yet to provide a release date for the next Titanfall experience from Respawn." Considering this neither confirms nor denies the potential for an earlier than expected release date for Titanfall 2 game, hope springs eternal for fans of mech combat everywhere.

In addition to Titanfall 2, Respawn Entertainment has "announced that they are currently working on a series of mobile spin-off games in addition to a potential Titanfall television series, but the latest news regarding their multi-platform followup might just have players returning to the mechanized playing field even sooner than they might have anticipated."

It's looking more and more like Titanfall is going to become a major series in its own right.
