Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi 2013 Divorce Rumors Fly After ‘Arrested Development’ Star Admits She Didn’t Want to be a Lesbian

For sometime now, rumors have been flying that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi may be getting a divorce in 2013. New life was breathed into those claims, after the ‘Arrested Development’ star revealed that she didn’t want to be a lesbian, prior to her coming out and getting married to Ellen.

Portia made headlines yet again recently. This time, it was for her sit-down interview at The Conversation with Amanda De Cadenet. When asked about what it was like coming out, Portia responded:

"I just didn't want to be a lesbian. I'd never met one for a start and I just thought they were strange and that they hated men and they were very serious and I had these ridiculous images in my head and there were no out celebrities or politicians or anybody that I could look to and go, 'Oh, I could be like that.' There was nobody that I could say, 'I could date her and I want to be like her.' I just kind of thought I don't want to live like this. I don't have to, I don't need to, I just shut down the emotional life.''

This is certainly understandable, especially considering the political climate at the time. Still, Portia managed to find love.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that she and wife Ellen are safe from the tabloids’ vicious claims. As of late, the rags have been predicting the end of their marriage.

Star is perhaps the most vocal of the tabloids, when it comes to a possible divorce for the couple. They recently quoted a source, who revealed:

“Ellen’s a jealous control freak, and it’s taking a toll on Portia. Portia loves her to death, but she feels like she’s trapped in Ellen’s world and she can’t get out. She’s had it with Ellen’s jealousy and insecurities! There’s even been talk of a separation, but for now, they’re trying to work things out in therapy.”

Apparently, it was Portia that encouraged the new therapy sessions. At least that’s how the source made it seem, when they revealed:

“Portia insisted on therapy because she thinks Ellen’s lingering issues from [being abused] may be connected to their ongoing marital problems. Before they were married, Ellen was very into therapy and used to have treatment sessions twice a week. But since then her coping mechanisms have slowly eroded and it’s affecting their marriage.”
