Musical ‘A Seprate Peace’ to Star Curt Hansen, Pierce Cravens, Matt McGrath

"A Separate Peace", a new musical by Warren Leight and Todd Almond, will make its first public presentation on Sunday as part of the Vassar & New York Stage and Film Powerhouse Theater season in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Based on John Knowles' 1959 novel, the musical is directed by Stafford Arima, with libretto by Leight and music and lyrics by Almond.

Under musical direction of J. Oconer Navarro, the show will star Jessica Barr, Richard Cerato, Pierce Cravens, Curt Hansen, Brian Charles Johnson, Julie Mattison, Matt McGrath, Gabrielle Stravelli and Christopher Wood.

Set in the early 1940s at an East Coast American prep school called Devon, the story follows a bookish student Gene Forrester, who bonds with his outgoing roommate Finny. The original novel has been adapted for films twice in 1972 and 2004.

Director Arima is an Olivier Award nominee for musical "Ragtime". He also directed MCC Theater's revival of the rock musical "Carrie" and Off-Broadway's "Altar Boyz".
