Kinky Boots star Kevin Smith Kirkwood bringing Classic Whitney: Alive! back, to the cutting room this spring. The hit show started last year At Joe's Pub is coming too The Cutting Room this spring. Kirkwood got his start on Broadway in 2005 in The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Kirkwood will be playing tribute to the late Whitney Houston, backed by a full band complete with three backup singers.
Classic Whitney: Alive! is written by Mr. Kirkwood with Ray DeMattis serving as directed andmusical direction by Drew Wutke (Into the Woods/Little Fish).
The show features backing vocals by Kerry Flanagan, Ashanti J’Aria , and Will T. Travis as well as special guests appearances.
Marcus Desion serves as costume designer wigs by Sabanah Styles (Kinky Boots).
Classic Whitney: Alive! will be performed at The Cutting Room (44 East 32nd Street in New York) on Wednesday, March 2 at 7:30 PM.
Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door and are at TheCuttingRoomNYC.com. There is an additional $20 food and drink minimum. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
