Everyone may be talking about Bethenny Frankel’s 2013 divorce from Jason Hoppy, but the former Real Housewives of New York star wants the world to hear about her new Skinnygirl products. Frankel also took time to discuss her show’s low ratings.
Frankel recently sat down with People, where she discussed her new line called Sparklers. The non-alcoholic drink line is designed to give bottled water a kick, as Bethenny describes:
"I haven't been this excited about a business decision since I started my company. I know we have to drink [water], but I don't really love water. I like my drink to be a little more exciting."
Bethenny also addressed all the haters who knock her talk show, which is doing terrible in the ratings. The reality star/mogul told the publication:
"It's been intense. People have been critical, hoping that we fail, but we're finally hitting our stride. Haters are our motivators."
Of course, Bethenny’s account differs from many others, including Star. The tabloid quoted a source as revealing that Bethenny is furious over the fact that Queen Latifah is beating her in the ratings war:
“Bethenny is livid about Queen Latifah beating her--she can’t believe this is happening. She’s holding crisis talks in order to figure out what Latifah has that she doesn’t.”
This insider went on to reveal that Frankel was thrilled when Kris Jenner’s show went off the air, as she presumed that she would be the top dog:
“Bethenny was overjoyed when Kris Jenner’s show got canned, because she figured Kris was her biggest competition. She had no idea that Queen Latifah would be the one to crush her. Unfortunately, she’s still seen as a Real Housewife, and people just like Queen Latifah better. This is a huge embarrassment.”
Unfortunately, ratings aren’t the only department in which Bethenny is hurting. Frankel is also going through a very public (and equally messy) divorce.
One of the reasons the split has become so high-profile is because Bethenny discusses the matter on her own show. Of course, a report from Radar Online claims that Ellen DeGeneres is not so happy about the discussion. According to a source who spoke with the gossip site:
“Ellen wants Bethenny to stop yakking about the divorce because there is a public perception that she’s to blame for the split. Jason is very sympathetic figure--a doting dad--and quite frankly, many of Bethenny’s viewers and fans don’t understand why she dumped him. Whenever Bethenny opines about how hard the divorce has been on her and bemoans that Jason wasn’t the love of her life, viewers turn the channel. This is one of the major factors contributing to Bethenny’s very weak ratings.”
