Alfie Boe Leaving ‘Les Miserables:’ Replacing Tony Yazbeck as JM Barrie in ‘Finding Neverland’

Tony Yazbeck is stepping down from his lead role as J.M Barrie in Finding Neverland, and that means Alfie Boe will be stepping up to dance with the bear. John Owen-Jones (Phantom of the Opera) will be taking over Boe’s role as in Jean Valjean in Les Miserables.

Alfie Boe will be stepping into the role of Peter Pan creator J.M. Barrie in Finding Neverland on March 29. Boe will be taking over for Tony Yazbeck who ends his run on March 27. The role was originally played on Broadway by Glee’s Matthew Morrison (A Light at the Piazza) and was played by Johnny Depp in the 2004 film. (Julian Ovenden originated the role in Leicester Cast in 2012 and Jeremy Jordan in the Original A.R.t. Cast in 2014.)

Boe said a heartfelt goodbye to Valjean and the loving Les Misérables audience, tweeting:

“So as my final week as Jean Valjean in Les Miserables approaches, I just want to say. Thank you to everyone who attended my performances and travelled from all corners of the globe to be here with me. My sincere respect and love to you all. Xxx”
