Knoxville Opera to Plan Unique Performance of Puccini’s ‘Tosca’

Saturday, April 30, the Knoxville Opera is breaking all of the rules of conventional opera production with its April 30 performance of The Fifth Commandment Fund production of Giacomo Puccini's masterpiece Tosca.

For the first time in history, Puccini's dramatic Tosca will be experienced through an unforgettable one-day event. The audience will travel with the artists and orchestra to three unique venues to personally witness the suspenseful story of corruption, torture, murder and suicide as Puccini wrote it to be experienced.

The one of a kind production will take place on Saturday, April 30, in three acts:

 ACT 1

Due to limited seating, ticketholders will select to attend one of the two performances below for Act 1:

2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. performance at Church Street United Methodist Church

3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. performance at Church Street United Methodist Church

ACT 2

7:30 p.m. to 8:20 p.m. performance at Knoxville Convention Exhibition Center

ACT 3

9:20 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. performance at World's Fair Park Amphitheater

Knoxville Opera is thrilled to welcome the talents of Kerri Marcinko as the tantalizing Floria Tosca, Jonathan Burton as the majestic Mario Cavaradossi and Scott Bearden as the villainous Scarpia.

Directed by Knoxville's own Brian Salesky, this will be a once-in-a-lifetime performance opera experience that enthusiasts will not want to miss.

In a recent press release announcing the unique opera production, Knoxville Opera Executive Director Brian Salesky assured longtime fans that they were going to see something truly novel:

"This will be a unique opera production.

"The cast, crew and audience will be traveling to three downtown Knoxville locations to fully experience Tosca as never before.

"It will be a special day filled with the allure and passion opera encompasses."

Tickets begin at $29 and are limited to the first 1,400 guests. They are available at Knoxville Opera's official website or by calling (865) 524-0795.
