Many have wondered what she had posted that made her the new queen of the social networking site.
Gomez has a lot of things going for her in gaining followers. Her on-and-off relationship pop superstar Justin Bieber has his followers naturally checking up on the actress. Then her adorable friendship with the 26-year-old "Bad Blood" hitmaker and previous record holder drives more fans her way.

Gomez notched a whopping 69.7 million followers while Swift follows with 69.3 million and Kim Kardashian currently in third place with 63.8 million followers.
The singer took to Snapchat to share the good news with her followers on Saturday.
Wearing a New York Yankees hat, Gomez could not stop herself from giggling as she announced, "Hey guys. I'm officially the number one most followed on Instagram. Thank you!"
But Gomez needs to watch her back because Swift has recently posted some gorgeous photos with Calvin Harris during their tropical getaway.
