‘She Loves Me’ Laura Bennati Talks Melania Trump Impersonation

Laura Bennati is taking Broadway by storm in the current revival of She Loves Me. Bennati even left TV behind in order to return to the stage. However, it looks she might be returning to TV in the near future, mainly the late night talk show, or Saturday Night Live. It appears that the Tony Award winning actress shares some features with the future First Lady, Melania Trump.

Recently, Laura Bennati appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the host got a little political, saying:

“Speaking of winners. Trump is a winner and Trump says ‘we are going to win and we’ll keep on winning until we don’t want to win anymore.’ We’ll get into to it in a second, your connection with him, but do you want him to win?... It might be good for you for if he does win.”

The host went on to show two side by side photos of Laura Bennati and Melania Trump, highlighting their similar looks, to which Bennati replied:

“I am going to have a second career as impersonator...She is my meal ticket so let’s do this Trump. Make America Great Again!”

Recently, Laura Benanti spoke to Variety about why she like the stage over the TV:

“TV utilizes a different part of your brain and a different part of your craft, so it did make me become a better actor onstage. It’s so about being real. Sometimes with theater, and in particular musical theater, you can get a tiny bit presentational, because when you hear the audience laugh you can be like, ‘Ooh, I’m gonna do it even biggah next time!’ TV sort of grounds you in the truth, because you don’t have immediate feedback. You’re more living in the present moment.”

What do you think? Does Laura Bennati have a future as an impersonator ahead of her? Would you like to see Laura Bennati as a regular guest on Saturday Night Live? Let us know your thoughts on the subject in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
