Classic FM's Aled Jones to Release New Album 'One Voice' April 1

Welsh singer, Classic FM presenter and all-around beloved artist Aled Jones has announced a new release due April 1. His new album, One Voice, will feature duets between a young Jones and the current.

The disc will feature tunes and works by Handel, Purcell, Britten and Vaughan Williams. Also, Jones will feature Welsh and Celtic Irish folk music, with a performance of "Danny Boy" already out for viewing. Also featured on the LP are Welsh favorites "All Through the Night" and "David of the White Rock."

Recording new material now that he has aged, Aled will also premiere three new solo tracks on the album including Handel's "Come to Me Soothing Sleep" and "The Ash Grove."

Mr. Jones said of the new recording:

"We were sitting around the kitchen table one day, when my mum suddenly announced that there was an album of folk songs of mine that had never been released.

"I didn't even remember recording the album, but when I listened to it at my parents' house, I felt like a proud uncle or father. From that came the idea to release the album of duets, featuring my voice as a boy and now as an adult."

The voice of the young Aled is obviously pre-pubescent, hitting a higher range than his comparable older self. After discovering a lost album in his parents' airing cupboard, Mr. Jones decided to put together the recordings with his new voice to provide a new series of duets.

Of course, the album discovered was recorded just before his voice broke. Thankfully, there's been enough time for his vocals to recover and now he can debut a duet series much like Nat King Cole and his daughter Natalie Cole.

For Natalie Cole, one of her most beloved songs was a duet with her late father entitled "Unforgettable." Mr. Jones' newest disc, then, follows in the same vain as Ms. Cole's premiere recording.

Nonetheless, be on the lookout for Aled Jones' new album due out April 1 and in the meantime, listen to the singer perform "Danny Boy" with his younger self below.
