Tony Winner George Hearn to Join Carolee Carmello in Musical 'Scandalous'

Two-time Tony Award winner George Hearn will join previously announced star Carolee Carmello in the Broadway premiere of the new musical "SCANDALOUS: The Life and Trials of Aimee Semple McPherson" this fall.

The musical based on the real story of 20th century evangelical leader Aimee Semple McPherson will begin previews at the Neil Simon Theatre in midtown-Manhattan on October 13, and the opening night is scheduled for November 15.

Set in 1920's Los Angeles, the show follows the extraordinary story of the first media superstar evangelist whose fame increased amid scandalous love affairs and growing controversy.

Tony Award-nominated actress Carolee Carmello will star as McPherson. Hearn will portray the dual roles of McPherson's warm-hearted father and a rival preacher with a strong resentment against her public power.

The Broadway production will feature book and lyrics by TV host Kathie Lee Gifford, music by David Pomeranz and David Friedman, choreography by Lorin Latarro, musical direction and vocal arrangements by Joel Fram, scenic design by Walt Spangler, costume design by Gregory A. Poplyk, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Ken Travis, and orchestrations by Bruce Coughlin.
