Amanda Bynes Mental Health: Illness Improving, Painting Before DUI Case and Christmas Release [UPDATE]

There has been another update in the mental health of Amanda Bynes. A new report claims that the troubled starlet’s illness may be improving, as she has taken up painting in rehab. These latest rumors come after Amanda was declared healthy enough to stand trial for DUI and may be released from rehab by Christmas.

Since summer, Amanda Bynes has been in court-ordered therapy. The former child star has since been diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

In recent weeks, it has been rumored that Amanda’s condition is drastically improving. The latest claims come out of Star, who quotes a source as revealing:

“Amanda paints nonstop. It’s helped get her focus and confidence back. She’s finding herself again in such a beautiful way. Her progress is just incredible!”

Of course, that’s not the only signal of Amanda’s recovery. According to TMZ, Amanda Bynes has been declared mentally fit enough to stand trial for her DUI charges:

“Amanda Bynes is mentally capable of understanding the nature of the criminal charges she faces, and as a result the road is now clear for her to stand trial for DUI. Amanda's case was in Mental Health Court this AM, and the judge read the court-ordered medical evaluation of the actress, and determined she is now competent to face the DUI charges.”

Of course, TMZ is the same publication that claimed Amanda will be released by Christmas:

“Amanda's meds and psychological counseling have sufficiently stabilized her so her doctors will let her leave the Malibu rehab facility where she's been held since September…Doctors will release Amanda to her mom, who will then take her to the family house and provide supervision. The move will take place sometime next month."
