Erica Falls Explores a ‘Deeply Personal Journey’ With New Album, ‘Emotions’

Grammy-winning NOLA Artist Erica Falls, known for her powerful singing and "spiritual" performances, presents her new musical masterpiece: the "Emotions" album.

The record underlines Falls' growth as a Crescent City-born artist deeply nurtured in cultural heritage and as a woman ripe with life experiences, all of which she distills into fifteen heartfelt tracks surrounding themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery.

'Emotions,' a Soulful Exploration Through a Modern Lens

From soulful ballads to infectious grooves, Falls invites her listeners to connect with what she calls a "deeply personal journey" told through her versatile and soulful command of her own craft as a vocalist.

"As an artist, 'Emotions' represents a deeply personal journey for me," Erica Falls said. "It's about embracing the highs and lows of life, and channeling those feelings into music that speaks to the soul."

"With this album, I wanted to create a sonic experience that resonates with listeners on a profound level, reminding them that it's okay to feel deeply and authentically," she added. "I'm thrilled to share this piece of my heart with the world and hope that it brings comfort, joy, and inspiration to all who listen."

Falls co-produced the record with her longtime collaborator and Vintage Soul bandmate, New Orleans drummer Nick Mercadel. Also joining the duo in the new album are the rest of the band's members: bassist Donald Ramsey, guitarist Chris Adkins, and keyboardist Jason Hodge.

Popping in the new album as featured performers are the legendary NOLA bassist for The Meters, George Porter, Jr.; Grammy-nominated soul artist Jamison Ross; and Cresent City vocalists Coty Hunter, Alayna Mayberry, and Christen Spencer.

"Emotions" marks seven years since the release of Falls' last album, 2017's "Homegrown," which was in turn preceded by her 2011 "Me Myself and I" record.

Representing her home of NOLA as a superb and well-performed "hummingbird," Falls has accrued notoriety and acclaim for her contributions to the rich musical scene of the city.

She has even been recognized multiple times by prestigious awarding bodies like the Grammys and Offbeat Magazine with nominations for Best R&B Artist and Best R&B Album, alongside Best Female Vocalist wins.

Her illustrious career includes touring nationwide with the band Galactic for five years from 2014 to 2019.

Now, she is on a solo musical voyage with her most recent project, realizing legacy influences she pulled from other powerful solo acts like Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, whilst still incorporating a contemporary flavor to create something unique.
