Julianna Margulies and Peter Gallagher to Make Broadway Return in Stage Adaptation of Delia Ephron’s ‘Left on Tenth’

Emmy-winning actress Julianna Margulies and Globe-winning actor Peter Gallagher are making a grand Broadway comeback in five-time Tony-winning director Susan Stroman's stage adaptation of Delia Ephron's New York Times best-selling memoir: "Left on Tenth."

The play, which is backed by "Life of Pi" producer Daryl Roth, will open this coming Fall at a theatre venue yet to be announced. Margulies will take on the role of Dalila opposite Gallagher's take on Peter.

About the Upcoming Broadway Adaptation of 'Left on Tenth'

The "Left on Tenth" production is taken straight from the life of Ephron and entails a story about love, hope, and the wonder of second chances, centering around the surprising connection the writer made with a man from her past and how she inevitably falls into a "real life" rom-com.

Of the upcoming stage play, Ephron said in a statement: "I am grateful and thrilled to be working with these champions of theatre-Susan Stroman and Daryl Roth."

"Left on Tenth is about a perilous and wondrous time of my life. We invite you to join our team of warriors and become believers yourselves," she added.

Recalling the origins of the stage project, producer Roth said: "When Delia first spoke to me about her manuscript of Left on Tenth, I felt that her story would make a magnificent play."

"It is heartfelt, deeply personal yet universal and full of hope. But it is also a classic romantic comedy for a certain generation, showing us that we can all be blessed with a second chance at life and love," she continued.

Background of 'Left on Tenth' Actors and Writer

As for Margulies, she made her Broadway debut back in 2006's "Festen" by director Rufus Norris. She also made an appearance in Jon Robin Baitz's "Ten Unknowns, which ran at the Lincoln Center and earned the actress her Lucille Lortel Award.

Gallagher, on the other hand, has credits in Broadway productions like "Guys and Dolls," where he earned a Drama Desk nod; "Long Day's Journey Into Night," which gave him a Tony nomination; "The Real Thing," which won him The Clarence Derwent Award; and "The Corn is Green," which gave him a Theatre World Award.

Ephron is mostly known for novels such as "Siracusa" and "The Lion Is In," alongside her books of essays and humor like "SisterMotherHusbandDog" and "How to Eat Like a Child." That said, the writer also has credits in films, which she often co-writes with her late sister Nora Ephron.

Some of these credits include "You've Got Mail, Michael," and "Hanging Up," whose source material is Ephron's novel of the same name. In addition, she and her sister also co-authored the stage play: "Love, Loss and What I Wore."
