The Reverend Shawn Amos Shares New Music Video for New Single ‘It’s All Gonna Change (For The Better)’

Last Friday, March 29, NAACP award-winning author and Grammy-nominated producer The Reverend Shawn Amos released his latest single "It's All Gonna Change (For The Better)" off of his upcoming album "Soul Brother No.1," out May 3 through Immediate Family Records.

As per Amos, the new song is accompanied by a trippy, sidescrolling music video made by London-based artist David Sheldrick, who made use of "music visualization software, photography, and computer animation" to create "hypnotic and unnerving" visuals.

"He created a completely original landscape for the song that contains multiple layers and meanings-a beautifully apocalyptic world where human callousness gives way to a reclamation of the planet by non-human lifeforms," he continued."

In delving deep into the song's meaning, Amos explained that he got the idea for the song from a famous George Carlin bit revolving around humanity's "disgraceful treatment of Earth." In the comedic routine, Amos recalls the punchline: "The planet is fine. The people are fucked."

"This song takes a page from Carlin's book of dark humor," he added. "It's a conversation amongst non-human life counting down the days until these dumbass humans are out of the way."

Shawn Amos' 'Soul Brother No. 1'

The track comes off the heels of Amos' previous single "Back to the Beginning," which featured a performance from the highly acclaimed, Nashville-based gospel group The McCrary Sisters.

His album's lead single "Revelation," a hard-driving blues bop, also received a music video similar to his most recent offering.

As for the forthcoming record "Soul Brother No.1," it is a collection of rootsy Americana songs that examines the artist's unique and expansive two-decade-plus career, all culminating into an introspective breakthrough that pulls back "The Rev" to his beginnings.

"The whole reason I started playing the blues," he explains, "was it connected me to my race in a way that I hadn't fully understood. With Soul Brother No. 1, I'm taking that journey even deeper."

In commemoration of his upcoming album's release, Amos will also hold several performances in Texas from May 2, 8, and 9 to a culminating show in California's The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica on June 8.
