Zacchae’us Paul Brings a Fresh Take on Jazz With Emotionally Powerful New Single “Better Dayz”

Last Thursday, April 25, jazz fusion artist Zacchae'us Paul shared his emotionally charged new single: "Better Dayz," now available on all major platforms via storied and recently relaunched Jazz label: Candid Records.

The single is Paul's follow-up to his "heartfelt ode to the extraordinary Black women who have shaped [his] very being," dubbed "Mama Said," which was released last March.

Both of these new releases will be showcased in Paul's performance at Brooklyn's Baby's All Right venue as part of OFFRIP and On the Radar's event: "RIPNYC."

The artist will also perform other new songs alongside WHATMORE (Cisco Swank, Yoshi T., Jackson August, Elijah Judah, $tallion), Wakai, and LIFEOFTHOM. For more information on ticketing and the event, click here.

About Zacchae'us Paul's 'Better Dayz'

As per Paul, his latest offering is "an emotionally powerful song that navigates through the turbulence of lost love and personal growth, all the while holding onto the hope of a brighter future."

With influences drawn from the indomitable spirit and "faith" epitomized by David in the Bible, the young jazz pianist and vocalist added that the song is about accepting both the "pain and longing" of a now-lost relationship and growing past it.

Blending Atlanta hip-hop, gospel, and Caribbean rhythms, Paul unapologetically brandishes his influences from his upbringing in Atlanta, Georgia, and studies in Puerto Rico to craft a youthful yet thoughtful soundscape as apparent in his recent releases.

His interest and curiosity with jazz only intensified after coming across legendary musician Duke Ellington's music, pushing him to pursue new sounds outside of his church community. Eventually, Paul found himself studying in Puerto Rico to broaden his musical horizons.

On discussing the deeper meaning of "Better Dayz," Paul said: "This song is not just a single; it's an anthem for anyone seeking to rise above their struggles and find joy in the journey towards healing and self-discovery."

You can now stream "Better Dayz" and "Mama Said" by clicking their respective titles. You can also sample both tracks right below.
