Erin Gibney Explores Contradicting Feelings in a Budding Romance With New Single ‘Kryptonite’

Nashville-based pop-country singer-songwriter Erin Gibney is continuing her series of releases this year with her newest single: "Kryptonite," a song that explores both the joys of a new romance and the fear of a relationship that is possibly not meant to be.

Now out on all major streaming platforms via Rock Ridge Music, after first arriving last Friday, May 3, the song is a follow-up to Gibney's February release: "Exit Signs," an acoustic track she co-wrote with and features "American Idol" winner Kris Allen.

About 'Kryptonite' and Erin Gibney's Recent Releases

As per Gibney herself: "'Kryptonite' is a song about catching feelings for someone unexpectedly. It's about the transition from friends to something more and all the excitement and uncertainty that comes with that."

"This song is one of my favorites I have ever written, and I'm so excited to bring it into the world," she continued.

Gibney's new song was first premiered by digital Americana platform Holler, who said the single "further showcases the unflinching honesty and intimacy Gibney has found in the last 18 months."

It also added that the song is a rightful new addition to the artist's "string of near-perfect pop-country singles last year," the majority of which were a result of her successful partnership with American singer Morgan Wade's producer, Paul Ebersold.

Particularly, the duo's collaboration produced Gibney's acclaimed 2023 singles "Exit Signs," "Talk Me Out of Him," and "You Made Your Bed." This year, amid a journey to move on from "genuine heartbreak," the country-pop artist joined forces with Ebersold once more.

One of the pair's newer projects is her foremost offering: "Kryptonite," which Gibney co-wrote with award-winning artist and songwriter Nell Maynard. Fans can also expect a prompt follow-up to this single, called "Not Something I've Told My Friends," a co-write with Landon Austin.

Other Gibney tracks are also in the pipeline at the time of writing, which means the country-pop artist's fans should expect more to come their way!
