Alan Thicke to Star in ‘Queen for a Day: The Musical’ in Ontario

Canadian TV star and songwriter Alan Thicke will be starring in the world premiere of "Queen for a Day: the Musical" as iconic TV personality Jack Bailey.

The 12-performance run begins with its world premier on Sept. 26 at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts in Ontario, Canada. Thicke, 65, is scheduled to appear in 10 shows.

"I am thrilled to be joining such an amazing all-Canadian cast and creative team for the world premiere of 'Queen for a Day,'" said Thicke in a statement.

"The original series was a smash success during its run and I am looking forward to creating the character Jack Bailey, a man who enriched the lives of so many women throughout the years," Thicke added.

Based on the popular reality show "Queen for a Day," which launched in 1945 and aired on radio and TV for two decades, musical comedy features music and lyrics by Linda Barnett, script by Chris Earle, Shari Hollett, and Paul O'Sullivan, and an all-Canadian cast.

Canadian actor, comedian, songwriter, and show host Thicke is best known for his role as Jason Seaver on the ABC TV series "Growing Pains".

The musical takes place in Hollywood in 1953, where outgoing and independent waitress Claribel Anderson's experience at the glitzy Moulin Rouge Theatre forces her to re-evaluate her dream of being a perfect '50s housewife.

The production is scheduled to run September 26th - October 7th. Tickets range from $35 to $59.50. For more information, visit queenforadaythemusical.com.
