The musical based on Will Ferrell's 2003 film "Elf" will return to Broadway for the holidays.
Producers announced Thursday the Christmas musical is set to start Nov. 9 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York. The nine-week run will close on Jan. 6.
Adapted from the Christmas comedy film of the same name, Elf features music by "The Wedding Singer" songwriters Matthew Sklar (music) and Chad Beguelin (lyric) and a book by Tony Award winners Bob Martin and Thomas Meehan.
The musical follows the story of one of Santa's elves who leaves the North Pole in search of his biological father in New York.
When the show premiered at the Hirschfeld Theatre in 2010, Sebastian Arcelus starred as the orphan elf alongside Amy Spanger, Beth Leavel, Mark Jacoby, and George Wendt.
Casting will be announced at a later date.
