Former triple threat Olivia Newton John was considered an incredible beauty during the pinnacle of her career in the ‘70s and early ‘80s, but sadly for all of us, that time has past. Unfortunately for John, the years have taken a lot more than just pep from her step. John has been hounded by rumors of plastic surgery since emerging earlier this year with a completely different face. Her sister's recent death, as well as her daughter’s admission that a childhood in the spotlight exacerbated her mental issues, have only led to fuel the speculation.
Though in the past, John has made statements about the inherent grace of aging naturally, but has since changed her mind, in practice if not speech. Earlier this year, photos of the 65-year-old star surfaced in which her skin seems stretched across her cheeks and her lips looked swollen.
The surgery could be a stress induced response brought on by her daughter, Chloe’s, recent interviews, where in, she blames the pressure of the media’s microscope on her childhood as a contributing source of her past eating disorders and narcotic dependency. She told the Daily Mail in a interview that has mirrored several she has given this year, all about it (via Huffington Post):
"Fame totally messes you up...I don’t blame my mother for my problems, but I would never want to be famous or raise a child of my own around the cult of celebrity. It ruins lives. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it is that you can’t be fragile in this business, or else you end up like Lindsay Lohan."
And just as soon as her daughter seems to be getting her life on track, John was hit by another major blow, the passing of her sister, Rona, to a brain tumor. She recently told Star:
“I miss her terribly. I laughed with her more than anyone in the world.”
