'Community’s' Chevy Chase Death and Donald Glover Departure Update, Plus All New 'Parks and Rec' [SPOILERS]

Warning Spoilers Follow*** Tonight on NBC are two brand new episodes of some of your favorite Thursday night comedies. The cult comdey Community kicks the night off in a big way, with a special episode that deals with the death of Chevy Chase’s character Pierce Hawthorne. It also means that cast regular Donald Glover only has two episodes left before he departs the show. Meanwhile, Parks and Rec is all new as well. Last week, we saw the return of a very sleepy Chris Pratt. Let’s hope the GOTG star will be wide awake for the new episode.

Last week, the study group got sad news when their detective thriller mystery got interrupted by Pierce’s death. The episode brushed over the death, angering fans who thought it was disrespectful.. However, this week’s all new episode, “"Cooperative Polygraphy,” plans to address the issue in greater depth.

The official synopsis according to TV Guide gives some insight into tonight's all new episode:

“A team of investigators grill the study group after Pierce's death in order to execute his will, leading the group to learn surprising things about one other.”

Chevy Chase decided to leave the show last year during the fourth season. The comedy legend caused quite the controversy when he made a racial slur on the set. In Chase’s defense, he made the slur in protest of his character's increasingly offensive actions. Chase told The Hollywood Reporter in 2012 about his disdain for the series:

“The hours are hideous, and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television. That’s my feeling about it. I think the reason I have stuck around is because I love these kids, the cast--they are very good. It’s not like I am working with the great innovators of all time.”

Chase is not the only one to leave the show. Donald Glover only signed up for five episodes this season. The actor/writer/rapper is taking time off to work on other projects, including his own show.

Glover foreshadowed his own departure in the first episode of the season when he called out Zach Braff for leaving during the final season of Scrubs.

Check out the all new Community tonight at 8 p.m. followed by Parks and Rec.
