Jeff Garlin Talks Fired Jay Leno, 'The Goldbergs' and Standup Before Howard Stern Birthday Bash [UPDATE]

Jeff Garlin recently made headlines for his appearance on The Howard Stern Show. The actor/comedian talked about Jay Leno being fired, his new show The Goldbergs and what it's like doing standup. Garlin's latest appearance comes just days before Howard Stern's Birthday Bash in New York.

Howard opened up the interview by asking Jeff what it was like to work (and subsequently be fired from) The Improv. Garlin didn't hold back when he told Stern:

"Back then in the standup world, I was respected by other comedians but the audiences just didn't get me. Whereas at Second City, I'd go on stage and the audience would love me, but my peers didn't respect me...But it all worked out. When I got fired, I told everyone I was going to be famous and would hire them. I actually did hire them for Curb Your Enthusiasm."

They also got on the topic of Jay Leno. Neither Howard nor Jeff are fans of the Big Chinned One, as evidenced by Jeff's response when asked if he thought Jay was a fake:

"Yes! It makes me nuts. And I'm not afraid to call them on it...It's bulls-t. You had to see the clip of Jay saying, 'I'm ready to go.' He's a hypocrite...He wants to stay on there...I think he's going to Fox or CNN"

Like many interviews Howard conducts, not too much time was spent focused on the project Jeff was promoting, The Goldbergs.

He has a new episode of the ABC comedy tonight, entitled "Muscles Mirsky." IMDB posted a synopsis for this week's episode on their website:

"While Adam (Sean Giambrone) worries about sexual tension between him and his longtime friend Emmy (guest star Stephanie Katherine Grant), Erica (Hayley Orrantia) and Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) square off over a lack of trust."

What do you think about Jeff's statements? Do you agree that Jay is a giant d-bag?
