What's Up, Doc?: 'Back to the Future' Musical Premieres West End Run with Robert Zemeckis Book, Jamie Lloyd Directing

Future fans have finally been heard. Backed by one of the most insatiable fan bases film's ever seen, Back to the Future will see the center stage as Jamie Lloyd directs.

The show will have a book by Robert Zemeckis, Bob Gale and director Lloyd. Music and lyrics are by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, who will also feature music from the movie.

Also, the man himself Steven Spielberg will assist in production--along with Colin Ingram and Donnovan Monnato

"The Back to the Future musical is a project that Bob Zemeckis and I have been exploring for almost 10 years," says Gale of the show.

"We're thrilled to be at last in partnership with a creative and producing team that will create a show that is true to the spirit of the film without being a slavish remake," he continues.

The team--rather than recreating the un-recreatable film for the stage--have created their own theatrical language to transport both the cast and the audience through time in a most unusual, yet authentic way.

So, get ready, because skateboarding, optical illusions and many other surprises await as the show finishes the final touches.

The venue is yet to be named but the musical will premiere sometime next year for a West End run in London.

To anthropomorphize our glee, here's Michael J. Fox and that catchy "Johnny B. Goode" jam.
