QUIZ: How Well Do You Know Your Black Classical Music History?

As Classicalite's favorite classical music radio station reminded us, the historian Carter G. Woodson chose the second week of February in 1926 to be deemed "Negro History Week" because the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln (Feb. 12) and Frederick Douglass (Feb. 14) occurred in that same week.

So, while the start to this February may seem too cold and snowy to bare (thanks, Mr. Groundhog), it is filled with a number of celebratory activities to keep the tradition alive and well.

Again, it's Classicalite's favorite classical music radio station that has you best covered.

WQXR will host a few specials Black History Month including The Choral Mix Spotlights Black Trailblazers (Feb. 2), The Price of Admission: A Musical Biography of Florence Beatrice Price (Feb. 5 & 9), I, Too, Sing America: Music in the Life of Langston Hughes (Feb. 12 & 16) and A Musical Biography of Pioneering Pianist Hazel Scott (Feb 19 & 23).

Think you, dear Classicalites, know your Black classical music history. Strut your stuff, then, by acing this quiz...
