‘Walking Dead’ Mid-Season Preview: What Happened to Baby Judith? [SPOILERS]

Warning Spoilers Follow! The Walking Dead returns this weekend with the fourth season mid-season premiere. In the last episode, the prison walls were taken down and the flock was scattered. Many died and the ones who did survive were rendered homeless. However, one of the most heartbreaking moments was Rick and Carl stumbling across baby Judith's empty and bloodied car seat. The big question is what happened to little Judith. Show creator Robert Kirkman is opening up about the fate of the lost child.

The survivors on The Walking Dead have lived through an awful lot but never anything like what went down at the end of the last episode. The crazed Governor laid waste to most of the prison. Now series creator Robert Kirkman is opening up about what is next. Kirkman spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how losing their homes and friends will affect the survivors:

“The first episode back is a very intense pressure-cooker that is going to evolve their relationship a great deal and it's all contained in one episode. Coming out of that first episode, you're going to see Carl and Rick in very different places, and that progression is going to continue out through the back half of the season. By the end of the season, you're going to see yet another turn in their relationship. There's quite a bit going on between these two characters, and while we're going to be focusing on all of the characters as we move into the back half of the season, you're going to see a lot of changes in Rick and Carl especially.”

Robert Kirkman went on to add that we get an answer about whether or not baby Judith is still alive or not...eventually:

"It will be resolved with absolute certainty but it's an unknown that's out there. Revealing when it will be resolved would be somewhat of a spoiler. There will be answers, but I don't know if they're going to come necessarily soon...As it stands right now Rick and Carl are on their own and they have every reason to believe that she is in fact dead. So that's something that's going to be weighing on them and is going to put them in a very dire situation and really heighten the events that are surrounding them and put them in a bad place moving forward."

The Walking Dead returns this Sunday.
