The Hollywood rumor mill is busy cranking out Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi divorce rumors for yet another year. Though Portia has been seen without her wedding ring, the couple has faced impending divorce danger gossip for years. Some friend are insisting that stories have persisted because Portia has been tired of Ellen's emotional abuse for years, and is now even talking of taking half the talk show host's net worth with when she goes.
Ellen DeGeneres reportedly has two show business personalities.
The Queen of Nice reportedly controls the behind the scenes action of her talk show like some sort of medieval mad tyrant, denying her staff the privileges of speaking or even moving.
Some friends say that the tyrannical Ellen is the one that tries to control Portia De Rossi's every move, and that is why Portia is planning her secret escape.
A friend of Portia told Star that the couple's relationship could never really be described as a give and take partnership:
"Portia and Ellen have never had a 50/50, loving relationship like a healthy couple has. She reads Portia's emails and checks her phone to see who she has been talking to. She refuses to let Portia to go out with her friends, and she regulates who is allowed at the house!"
Portia has to hide the fact that she is planning her big escape, or Ellen will come in and shut it down just like she always does, an inside source told Star:
"Ellen follows a cynical pattern: She is mean and controlling, then she sees that Portia is pulling away and sucks it up. She'll cry and tell Portia that she can't live without her, then spoil her with vacations, cars, and jewelry. She has a way of making Portia believe that she would never be anything without Ellen, and if they split, she'd be screwed...That's why Portia doesn't want Ellen to know that she's told friends she's thinking of leaving her."
Plus, adds the insider, Portia doesn't want Ellen to get a lawyer to protect her $200 million just yet:
"Portia feels that she has definitely earned half of Ellen's fortune for putting up with her for so long. You'd better believe that is she moves forward with this divorce she will fight for every penny she can get!"
