The good news is that Randy Travis is doing better since his near death health scare last year. Travis even recently made his first public appearance. However, a new update suggests that the singer can’t and may never again play guitar. Meanwhile, a lost song demo has recently been released.
Randy Travis is reportedly much better following his multi-surgery hospital stay last year. Shortly after being released from the hospital last year, Harold Traywick, Travis’ father, told The Enquirer about his son’s condition:
“Randy is still in very bad shape...It's possible he'll never perform again."
However, Traywick recently told Closer about Travis’ improving condition:
“He’s getting his voice back now, little by little.”
Travis was also recently seen out with fellow country star Neal McCoy. McCoy even posted a picture of himself and Travis on Facebook, along with the message:
“Randy Travis and I recently backstage before I went on, at a Smiles For Life concert in Dallas Texas. Pretty honored this was Randy's first time out and his first time to have Cowboy boots on since his illness.Gettin Better!!!”
However, it is not all good news as McCoy told People:
"He looks great but is still struggling to use both of his hands. I don't know if he'll ever fully recover, but he's a tough guy with a work ethic."
Meanwhile, songwriter Bonnie Paul released a demo version of one of Travis’ unreleased tracks, titled “Childhood Sweethearts.”
Paul also spoke about Travis’ health, tweeting:
“Great Xmas news 4 y'all , my mom was actually talking with Randy on phone , sounds strong and wonderful and walking on his own.....”
