A Performance You Can't Refuse: Francis Ford Coppola's 'Godfather,' with Nino Rota's Live Score, to Screen at Royal Albert Hall

Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather will get a special screening at Royal Albert Hall come December 8--one of American cinema's best films showing at one of London's most famous music venues.

And yes, Giovanni "Nino" Rota's immortal score will take to the pit for live accompaniment.

This isn't the first time RAH has shown its Hollywood flair. In recent years, the venue has become something of a destination for screening the likes of Skyfall and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Then again, even The Godfather: Part III is better than both James Bond and C.S. Lewis combined, so there is that (to say nothing of that awful 007 song from Adele).

Jasper Hope, COO of Albert Hall, says: "The Royal Albert Hall has become the place to see great films with great scores played live, and the chance to watch The Godfather with Nino Rota's legendary music performed on stage and in full will be a unique experience for fans."

Especially that trumpet...

In all seriousness, Rota's score for Coppola's movie is one of the best of all time (according to the American Film Institute, no less). And with a new breath of fresh air from conductor Justin Freer, consider this one required viewing/listening.

Again, listen for the trumpet. Or the oboe, or the mandolin. They're all brilliant.
