Carnegie Hall Welcomes The Philadelphia Orchestra and Yannick Nezet-Seguin

New York's Carnegie Hall will welcome the Philadelphia Orchestra on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. on the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, a night that will include various acts guided by music director Yannick Nezet-Seguin.

Mr. Nezet-Seguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra will be joined by singers soprano Marina Poplavskaya, mezzo-soprano Christine Rice,tenor Rolando Villazon and bass Mikhail Petrenko and the Westminster Symphonic Choir.

The evening will consist of Guiseppe Verdi's "Requiem," a piece that is considered the Italian's greatest ever work.

Nezet- Seguin can be associated with numerous orchestras and classical music persons.

Along with taking over the lead role at the Philadelphia orchestra, the French Canadian is also contracted to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, in the Netherlands as a principal conductor.

Nezet-Seguin is also closely linked with Carlo Maria Giulini and Charles Dutoit the man who introduced him to the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Marina Poplavskaya is a Russian soprano who has work with the likes of the Royal Opera House and the Metropolitan Opera House. She has done plays such as "War and Peace," by Natasha Prokofiev and also played in Puccini's "Turnadot."

British mezzo-soprano Christine Rice is a staple around many European theaters such as the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Oper Frankfurt, Teatro Real in Madrid and the National English Opera. She has also done plays such as Georges Bizet's "Carmen,"   

A Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres recipinat Rolando Villazon has been one of opera's consistent performers over the years and this season will see the Mexican perform with the likes of Daniel Barenboim and tour Europe to celebrate the birth of Giuseppe Verdi.
