Ariana Grande and Moby Explain Why They Are Vegans

Recently musician and animal rights activist Moby opened up about why he chose to be vegan. Pop star Ariana Grande has spoke about holding on her to vcard, so to say.

In today's world it is hard to make a move that doesn’t affect someone or something else. A person's actions can have a grave number of consequences on themselves, the environment, and especially animals.

The battle between animal rights activist and hunters and farmers trying to make a living is likely to wage until the end of time. However, somewhere between the Morrisseys and the Duck Dynastys of the world is Moby. The 48-year-old DJ, is a vegan and animal rights activist, however, he isn’t being a d**k about it. Moby recently wrote an opinion piece for Rolling Stone where he detailed just why he was a vegan, writing:

“My reason for becoming a vegetarian was simple: I loved (and love) animals and I don't want to be involved in anything that leads to or contributes to their suffering. At first this led me to give up beef and chicken. Then fish (if you've ever spent time with fish you realize pretty quickly that they feel pain and are much happier not being hooked or speared or netted). Then I thought, ‘I don't want to contribute to animal suffering. But the cows and chickens in commercial dairy and eg farms are pretty miserable, so why am I still eating milk and eggs?’ So in 1987 I gave up all animal products and became a vegan. Simply so that I could eat and live in accordance with my beliefs that animals have their own lives, that they're entitled to their own lives and that contributing to animal suffering is something that I don't want to be a part of. That was 27 years ago. So, being a math whiz, I can safely say that I've been a vegan now for 27 years. As time has passed, my veganism has been reinforced by learning about health and climate change and the environment. I found that eating meat and dairy and eggs are to a very large extent responsible for people developing diabetes, heart disease and cancer.”

However, Moby didn’t go full Morrissey (never go full Morrissey). As he was concluding his letter, Moby added:

“To be clear: Just because I'm a vegan I'm not saying you should be a vegan. It would be ironic if I refused to force my will on animals but was all too happy forcing my will on humans.”

Ariana Grande however, was a little more self righteous about her reasons for being a vegan, telling V:

"In America, almost everybody thinks you need to have meat for protein. Protein, protein, protein! And what's in dairy? Calcium, calcium, calcium. It's those kinds of proteins that latch onto the insides of your bloodstream and make it easier for you to have a heart attack. Look, cows produce milk with nutrients for cows. Maybe that's why Americans end up looking like cows! Ultimately, no one wants cow tit pus in their food, do they?”

So apparently it is ok to defend drunk drivers, let your fan base threaten little children and record a duet with a known misogynist but a little cows milk is a no go.
