Nicole Richie and husband Joel Madden are still together, but with the purpled-hair fashion designer shedding pounds like whoa, people are starting to wonder how much longer she will last. Nicole has denied having any problems with her old diet addiction, but her weight tells a different tale. And to top it all off, manic Richie is reportedly so strung out on Twitter, it is literally starting to drive Joel crazy.
Nicole Richie apparently scared the hell out of Joel, when he returned from shooting the Voice in Australia.
A friend close to the ever-thinning couple told Star that Madden is completely freaked out by Nic's recent weight loss, but couldn't convince Richie that something was wrong with her:
"[Joel] flat out said that she is on the road to killing herself.
"He's scared to death that her organs will begin to shut down.
"But Nichole doesn't think anything is wrong. She thinks she is perfectly healthy.
"Joel feels like an intervention may be the only way to really help her recover, but she's in denial and no one can force her to get treatment."
Nicole told In Touch that she thinks people really shouldn't be worried--it isn't like she's skipping meals:
"I'm [exercising] two hours a day four days a week. This is the only workout I've ever done that I've been able to eat whatever I want."
And just to ratchet things up a notch in the tension department, Nicole has taken to being on the phone at all hours of the night.
A source close to Joel told OK! that Madden is practically on the verge of losing it:
"Nicole is on her phone around the clock, and it drives Joel crazy.
"When she isn't talking to someone, she's checking e-mail, Instagram and Twitter.
"She won't turn of the ringer."
Joel shouldn't worry though, at this rate it won't be long before Nicole's too weak to pick up the phone.
