The late jazz songstress Amy Winehouse will have her very own play that according to the Los Angeles Times.
Denmark will be the place where a play about late Amy Winehouse will happen starting Jan. 30 until April. 13 in the 2012-2013 season and is entitled simply "Amy."
The Winehouse piece will be performed in the Danish capital of Copenhagen by the Royal Danish Theatre.
The musical setting for this play centers around Winehouse's "Back to Black" and "Frank." The singer's family according to the BBC was not involved in the production, which seeks to examine "the enormous pressure a sensationalist public put on a young superstar when her problems began."
According to the L.A. Times The Royal Danish Theatre's website doesn't specify who is writing the script, but said it will be based on published interviews and other press reports on the singer and songwriter, her concerts, speeches, letters and her songs. Winehouse is to be portrayed by 29-year-old actress Johanne Louise Schmidt.
Amy Winhouse died on July. 23, 2011 but before that she had worked on a few projects, singer Tony Bennett had combined with her on a track called "Body and Soul," a record that landed on the billboard charts at No.89.
The play is said to be controversial because not only will it highlight the singers rise from the unknown to superstar status but it will also potentially showcase some of Winehouse's problems she faced while alive and some persons in the industry are wondering if doing such a play is ethically sound.
