Astar is Born: 8-Year-Old Angelina Jordan Sings 'Bang Bang,' Advances to Finals of ‘Norway's Got Talent’

With just a single, soulful guitar accompanying her, Angelina Jordan Astar sang "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" on the semi-finals of Norske Talenter (Norway's Got Talent) on Saturday night.

She sang the torch song with a rueful, yearning quality to her voice, as if sensing the heartbreak that lurks just below the surface. The judges, clearly moved by the eight-year-old's ability to express emotions beyond her years, voted her through to the finals of the talent show, to be held next month.

Both Cher and Nancy Sinatra recorded famous versions of "Bang Bang," and Quentin Tarantino used Sinatra's version in his 2003 movie Kill Bill.

The slow, sultry ballad was a great choice for Angelina, allowing the audience to hear every nuance of her beautiful voice:

Angelina's white dress and crown of white flowers were lovely and worthy of her name, but the angelic purity of her outfit seemed like the wrong choice for the smoky ballad she was singing.

In fact, Angelina looked a lot like Amira Willighagen at the semi-finals of Holland's Got Talent, when she sang "Ave Maria" to advance to the finals of that talent show:

When Angelina auditioned for Norway's Got Talent in March, she amazed the judges by sounding remarkably like Billie Holiday on "Gloomy Sunday." The video of her audition went viral, with more than 5 million views.

We at Classicalite wish Angelina all the best at the finals of Norway's Got Talent--may she do as well as Amira, who went on to win Holland's Got Talent and recently released her first album.
