Rumor has it that Lionel's daughter Nicole Richie and her Good Charlotte twin husband Joel Madden are headed for divorce due to their constant fighting over the fashion designer's anorexic diet. As Richie's gaunt frame continues to dwindle down to nothing, some reportedly fear the Joel will split when he realizes that he is powerless to help his wife.
When strangers stumble upon Nicole Richie in Los Angeles they are almost always shocked my her concentration camp-like appearance.
An eyewitness that caught Nicole and her good buddy Cameron Diaz on a nature hike last Easter told OK! that it was kind of like looking death right in its purpley haired faced:
"She looked like a little boy!
"She appeared to be extremely unhealthy and malnourished. I honestly thought she may fall over at any minute because she was just so emaciated."
According to an insider her husband Joel Madden is hoping Diaz will be able to get through to Richie because he has just about given up (via OK!):
"[Joel] has tried to talk to Nicole about her weight. But she only gets defensive and turns it into a fight."
Nicole Richie told In Touch that she really didn't understand what all the fuss was about--she treats every day like a cheat day:
"I'm [exercising] two hours a day four days a week. This is the only workout I've ever done that I've been able to eat whatever I want."
A friend of the quickly vanishing mother of two told OK! that the problem was Nicole doesn't really want to eat anything:
"She drinks one or two protein shakes a day...That plays into her always being dizzy and tired."
If Nicole doesn't allow her husband to help her pretty soon...her marriage might get a couple hundred pounds lighter.
