‘Law & Order: SVU’ Cancellation and Renewal, Benson Arrest and Stabler Return Rumors [SPOILERS]

SPOILER ALERT: Law & Order: SVU is all new tonight. In the last episode Detective Olivia Benson was put through hell and now she is the one on trial. Check the plot preview below to see Liv will be arrested. The show has yet to be canceled or renewed, leaving both Liv and the franchise fate up in the air. Could Detective Stabler return to save his friend and the show?

Things are not going so well for Liv Benson. The detective turned acting cheif is now being put on trial after being kidnapped. Check the plot preview to see what is store for tonight’s episode titled, "Post-Mortem Blues."

“Benson is investigated following William Lewis' death, and a prosecutor convenes a grand jury and calls for her arrest. While two lieutenants advise Benson to save her career at all costs, she wrestles with what's the right thing to do.”

The Law & Order series is a staple of TV for the past 24-years. The original series, premiering in 1990, sparked several spin-off series, including: Criminal Intent, Special Victims Unit and a L. A version just to name a few. However, the original series and all the spin-offs have come to an end, with the exception of SVU. Now the last remaining series, SVU is in danger.

Deadline is reporting that a breakdown in budget negotiations between Dick Wolf and NBC is the reason that show has not been renewed.

Fans have been wondering if they will ever see Detective Elliot Stabler return to show. During the 2014, TV Critics Association press tour, Christopher Meloni told E! News about about being done with the show:

"From where I sit right now, I spent 12 years there. It was a great experience. I loved all the people, I loved the character, I just feel at this point and time it's kind of been done, for me."

However, everyone’s favorite F.B.I. psychologist B.D.Wong will return for the finale episode of the season.
