Samsung Galaxy S3 Above Rival iPhone In Q3 Sales

The Samsung Galaxy S III has sold 18 million units to brush aside Apple's 16. 2 million iPhone sold in the third quarter this according to bbc.co.uk.

This information comes from a research firm Strategy Analytics. They have said that the South Korean based company's new phone has slid pass Apple's iPhone 4S and has become the world's best selling smart phone.

Strategy Analytics' Neill Mawston said that the Galaxy S III "has proven wildly popular with consumers and operators."

Experts are sating however that the only reason Samsung sat up top of the smartphone world is that consumers were waiting on the release of the iPhone 5 that came out earlier this year and they fully expect Apple to reclaim its top spot.

Mawston has already given the nod to Apple saying that they got off to a solid start according to the bbc.co.uk and said. "We expect the new iPhone 5 to out-ship Samsung's Galaxy S3 in the coming fourth quarter. Apple should soon reclaim the title of the world's most popular smartphone model,"

These two smartphone giants should expect competition from the likes of the Nexus 4 which has gotten wondrous reviews from tech experts.

"Android has a new champion. The Nexus 4, built by LG in collaboration with Google, is the best overall Android handset currently available, and it's one of the best phones to be released this year," this according to wired.com.

The Verge had a more mixed opinion."The Nexus 4 is absolutely wonderful, but it's also vexing. Frustrating. Annoying. It's easily the best Android phone on the market right now, and has some of the most powerful software that's ever been put on a mobile phone."
