Daniel Bryan Loses Title After Brie Bella Payback Slap? Stephanie McMahon Threatens, Return Rumors

Daniel Bryan may lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after Stephanie McMahon Threatened to strip him of the title on RAW this week. The Boss is pretty mad after Brie Bella gave her a nice juicy slap in the face at the Payback Pay Per View. All this has only served to further fuel the rumors of Bryan's early return after neck surgery.

Some fans believe the best move for Bryan's storyline would be to lose the belt and take the time to fully heal in order to make a second title run. This way he can remain an anti-establishment underdog instead of being the champion of a corporate giant who can't even defend his title (via Bleacher Report):

"Judging by the engaged crowd response, this segment was just as effective in establishing Daniel Bryan as a strong babyface as any wrestling match. Upon Bryan's entrance, James Caldwell of PWTorch noted the 'crowd went nuts with "Yes!" chants.' The chants carried a familiar tone of fervent support rather than token appreciation, which seemed to be the case following Bryan's WrestleMania win."

As mentioned earlier, Bryan has sustained a rather serious neck injury. While early reports were optimistic for a 6-8 week recovery, it seems now that the wise bet would be to wait it out and fully heal. Then he can gun for the title again, vowing to earn back the belt that was stolen from him by the evil Stephanie McMahon.

The fact that Stephanie can protect the company while preserving her antagonistic character is a bonus. By being herself (in storyline) she can actually provide cover for Bryan while he heals (via Bleacher Report):

"Rushing back from injuries usually doesn't end well for anyone in wrestling (look at Rey Mysterio). If Bryan needs those extra few weeks off, he should take them."
