Northside Festival 2014 Hits Hipster Hubs of Williamsburg and Bushwick in Brooklyn June 12-19

It is perhaps New York's largest discovery gala, the Northside Festival, which slams Brooklyn's newest hubs for anything artsy this June 12 to 19.

Hundreds of bands, entrepreneurs, filmmakers, innovators and some 80,000 fans will come together in Brooklyn for an incredible showcase of upcoming phenoms in music, film, art and so on, per their website.

There will be free shows (per RSVP) at McCarren Park, which will feature headliner Thee Oh Sees and a scattered set of maniacal punk rock. Sunday will feature Chvrches and their synth-pop amalgam.

The sullenly boisterous Sharon Van Etten, will also take Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday, and Philly-comers The War on Drugs at the infamous 50 Kent.

Films will hole up at Nitehawk Cinemas, UnionDocs, the Chelsea-reminiscent Wythe Hotel, IndieScreen and Videology.

It's a festival that's worth the $80 badge price, and much like something South By Southwest will span several clubs in the more popular Brooklyn area.

Obviously, it's encouraged to hit as many venues as possible, but be weary of max capacity.

Set yourself straight and get down on some Etten in the meantime.
