Apple's new update iTunes 11 has been launched after a month-long delay and welcomes users back with new design and features.
The new refresh of iTunes was released on Thursday and sported new redesigned interface and new features. CNET.com reported that the new update was free to current iTunes users on Mac and Windows this morning, and later as a download from Apple's iTunes site.
According to CNET, the new update will include deeper integration with Apple's iCloud service, a new "up next" song feature, redesigned storefronts, and a revamped mini player that lets you search for songs, albums, and artists without going back to the full view.
The redesign will be on sync with Apple's iOS software, with a focus on large album covers that can expand to show you songs both in your library, and other tracks from Apple's iTunes Music Store.
This new iTunes installment trimmed some of the fat off dumping earlier this year Apple cut at least some of the functionality, removing its music social-networking experiment Ping.
The last updated version iTunes 10 came out in September 2010 and had the aforementioned Ping.
"The first thing you notice when you fire up iTunes 11 is that it's so much faster than its predecessor," Gizmodo.com's Mario Aguilar said. "So fast. We can't believe it's iTunes. When scrolling through the app's new graphics heavy album view, the tiles fly by. Apple must have completely rewritten the app to get these results."
