Desperado Antonia Banderas seemed the picture perfect Hollywood husband for many of the 18-years her was married to Crazy in Alabama actor Melanie Griffith--standing proudly by the botched plastic surgery spokeswoman, while she reportedly battled substance abuse. But that apparently hasn't been the case for quite some time now. Not only has Banderas been scene seemingly cheating on Melanie while partying solo in Europe in Mexico, the Spanish playboy is said to have purposely driven Griffith to file divorce, so it wouldn't look like he was running out on her and the 17-year-old daughter Stella--even though he is said to have "checked out" of the marriage years ago. Now all that's left to do is split up their estimated $65 million combined net worth.
Actors Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith announced June 6 that they had "thoughtfully and consensually decided" to end their marriage after spending nearly 2 decades as husband and wife.
But according to a supposed insider, who spoke to OK! Magazine, Antonio hasn't been interested in playing husband to wife Melanie for years now:
"The truth is that Antonio pretty much checked out of their marriage years ago.
"But he left it to Melanie to file for divorce because he thought it would make him look like the bad guy."
'Antonio had really distanced himself from her over the past few months, and then to see him frolicking around France with another woman--it broke her heart."
"Melanie was shattered."
Even still, reports the source, Griffith might have never found the strength to leave Banderas and his bullshit had it not been for the some good advice from her friend Sharon Stone.
The source close to Mel told OK! that it was the Fatal Attraction actor, who finally got Griffith to a place where she could leave her horrible husband:
"Sharon has seen how unhappy Melanie's been and had a heart-to-heart with her.
"She helped boost her confidence, telling her that she needs to stop fearing that she'll always be alone--and even recommending she go out and get herself a boytoy!"
If half on the philandering Banderas is accused of is true...then it sounds like Melanie needs to go out and get herself tested before she goes on any dates.
